Meg Stuart ” off-course”, 2010 İstanbul

Meg Stuart / Damaged Goods: “OFF COURSE”

Two years after her first visit, choreographer and dancer Meg Stuart was invited back to garajistanbul, as part of the ISTANPOLI project and Dance Platform Istanbul, an Istanbul 2010 European Capital of Culture project.

During two weeks she lead an intensive improvisation-research workshop on displacement : ‘Off Course ’.

Meg and the participants addressed the political, the abstract, the potential humor and the discomfort inherent in forced transitions.

They set up images and actions and displace them, looking at shifting physical and spatial borders, protracted waiting, being thrown off course, moving together in unstable structures and ultimately improvising makeshift systems of support.

For ‘Off course’ Meg and her Istanbulparticipants were joined by musician Jari Marjamäki , visual artist Valentine Kempynck and dancers Adam Linder and Elpida Orfanidou.

Gonca Gumusayak’s latest  co-production stage project took place in December 2011 in Antwerp, Belgium, at the 90 0090 Kunst en Festival with Meg Stuart and Damaged Goods Team. In December 2011, Belgium reunited and toured with the world-renowned Belgian choreographer Meg Stuart & Damaged Goods.
